Ethics: How do you ensure ethical use of AI in your offerings?

At LessonUp, ensuring ethical use of AI is a top priority. First, we ensure that Maia's design and implementation are transparent. Teachers are always aware of how Maia works, what data is used, and how it contributes to the development of interactive lessons. This ensures that teachers can make informed choices and maintain control over their lesson content. We maintain strict data protection and privacy protocols to ensure that all information is secure and used only to enhance the teaching experience. Teacher autonomy is guaranteed; Maia is a tool to assist, not to decide. Teachers make the final decisions about their lesson content and structure. In addition, we continually incorporate ethical considerations into the development of Maia. This includes regularly reviewing our AI for bias, ensuring equity in the content supported, and adapting to diverse educational needs and contexts. We strive to create an inclusive and supportive environment for all users. Through these approaches, we not only maintain the ethical integrity of our AI offerings, but also strengthen the trust and effectiveness of Maia as a support tool for educators worldwide. The goal is to have a positive impact on education while maintaining the highest ethical standards.
